A brand-new Disney resort is taking shape along the shores of Bay Lake—and Disney has now revealed a closer look at what guests can expect when it opens.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge is projected to welcome its first guests in summer 2027. Located near Magic Kingdom, the nature-inspired resort will combine peaceful waterfront surroundings with Disney storytelling, spacious accommodations, distinctive dining experiences and one of the most impressive recreation areas at Walt Disney World.
Disney’s newest announcement offers fresh details and concept images of the resort’s lobby, restaurants, lounge and outdoor spaces. Here is everything we know so far about Disney Lakeshore Lodge.
A Nature-Inspired Disney Resort on Bay Lake
Disney Lakeshore Lodge is being built along the south shore of Bay Lake, with boat transportation planned between the resort and Magic Kingdom.
The property is designed around Walt Disney’s appreciation for the outdoors. Its architecture, artwork and landscaping will celebrate nature through the work of Disney artists and storytellers, with subtle inspiration from animated films including Bambi, Pocahontas and Brother Bear.
Rather than creating an overtly character-themed hotel, Disney appears to be taking a more refined approach. Familiar stories will be incorporated through artwork, materials, music and environmental details throughout the property.
The Lobby Will Bring the Outdoors Inside
Guests arriving at Disney Lakeshore Lodge will enter a large lobby filled with natural light and views of the resort’s outdoor recreation area, known as The Wetlands.
Floor-to-ceiling windows will help connect the interior with the surrounding landscape and Bay Lake. Disney says local plants and wildlife will influence the lobby’s architecture, art and atmosphere.
One of the most striking design features will be a shimmering fiber-optic river built into the floor. Inspired by the music and storytelling of Pocahontas, the illuminated river will flow beneath a blown-glass “Colors of the Wind” sculpture created from hundreds of suspended glass leaves.
Natural materials will be used throughout the space, including custom tapestries inspired by landscapes from the movie and furnishings featuring accents made from river-recovered cypress wood.
Three New Dining Experiences
Disney Lakeshore Lodge will open with three primary dining locations, ranging from waterfront table service to quick-service meals and poolside snacks.
Moonglade
Moonglade will be the resort’s signature table-service restaurant.
Located along the lakefront, the restaurant will feature expansive windows overlooking Bay Lake and the cypress trees lining the shoreline. Its design will explore the changing relationship between light and shadow, creating a different atmosphere as the day transitions into evening.
The menu will focus on thoughtfully prepared dishes featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Disney has not yet released specific menu items or information about whether character dining will be offered.
Bay Lake Provisions
For a quicker meal, guests will be able to visit Bay Lake Provisions.
The all-day quick-service marketplace will serve specialty coffee and fresh food from an open kitchen. It is intended to be convenient for guests heading to the theme parks as well as families returning from an afternoon at the pool.
Woodland creatures inspired by classic Disney animation will be hidden throughout the restaurant, giving guests small details to discover while they dine.
Paint Out Point Bar & Grill
Paint Out Point Bar & Grill will serve shareable food and specialty beverages near the resort’s feature pool.
The location is inspired by plein-air painting—the practice of creating artwork outdoors while observing the surrounding landscape. Its décor will include original pieces created by Imagineers while drawing inspiration from the scenery around Bay Lake.
A Lounge With Magic Kingdom Fireworks Views
One of Disney Lakeshore Lodge’s most appealing spaces may be Dandelion Terrace, an evening lounge overlooking Bay Lake.
The lounge is being positioned as a place where guests can relax after dark while watching Magic Kingdom fireworks illuminate the sky across the water.
Inside, Dandelion Terrace will feature a two-story gallery displaying archival artwork from Disney animated classics, including Fantasia. Whimsical dandelion-shaped light fixtures, soft lighting and panoramic views will complete the space.
Disney has not yet announced whether fireworks music will be played inside the lounge or if reservations will be required.
The Wetlands Recreation Area
Outside the lobby, guests will find The Wetlands, an expansive recreation area designed for both active family fun and quiet relaxation.
The area will include pools, children’s play spaces, a lazy river and scenic pathways overlooking Bay Lake.
Lakeshore Lagoon
At the center of The Wetlands will be Lakeshore Lagoon, the resort’s zero-entry feature pool.
The pool will include a spiral waterslide, tropical landscaping and space for families to relax in the Florida sunshine. Its zero-entry design will allow guests to walk gradually into the water rather than entering by steps or ladders.
Daydream River
Disney Lakeshore Lodge will also feature Daydream River, a lazy river that winds through the outdoor recreation area.
Lazy rivers are not commonly found at Disney World hotels, which could make this one of the property’s biggest attractions. Guests will be able to float along the current while enjoying the scenery surrounding the resort.
Heron Shores and Otter Springs
Younger guests will have two play areas inspired by the lyrics and storytelling of “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas.
Heron Shores will be a dry playground with climbing features, while Otter Springs will offer interactive water elements where children can splash and slide.
Cypress Point
A quieter recreation area called Cypress Point will be located on the opposite side of the resort.
It will include a leisure pool and whirlpool spa, offering a more relaxed alternative to the main feature pool. Cypress Point is also being positioned to provide views of Magic Kingdom fireworks in the evening.
Guests exploring The Wetlands will find educational details about local plants and animals along its pathways. Disney is also planning a special plaque recognizing a historic attraction that once operated on the property, although it has not yet revealed what the plaque will commemorate.
Convenient Access to Magic Kingdom
Disney has confirmed that guests will be able to travel from Lakeshore Lodge to Magic Kingdom by boat.
That transportation connection should make the property especially appealing to families planning to spend considerable time at Magic Kingdom. Resort guests will also have access to eligible Disney hotel benefits, including complimentary transportation around Walt Disney World and additional time in participating theme parks.
Disney has not yet announced whether bus transportation will be offered to Magic Kingdom as an alternative to the boats or how transportation to the other theme parks and Disney Springs will operate.
When Will Disney Lakeshore Lodge Open?
Disney Lakeshore Lodge is currently projected to open in summer 2027.
A specific opening date, reservation window and room pricing have not yet been announced. Disney says additional updates will be shared as construction progresses, including more information about the resort’s accommodations, dining, recreation and design details.
Because the resort remains under development, names, designs and opening plans could still change before guests arrive.
