The Orlando Dreamers have released new renderings offering a fresh look at their proposed baseball stadium and surrounding entertainment district. The images show a dramatically different vision from a traditional standalone ballpark—one designed to become a year-round destination for residents and visitors.
The updated concepts, credited to sports architecture firm Populous, include views from inside the stadium, premium seating areas, public gathering spaces and portions of the mixed-use development planned around the ballpark.
A Covered Stadium Designed for Orlando
At the center of the proposal is an approximately 45,000-seat covered stadium designed to protect games from Central Florida’s heat and afternoon storms.
The Orlando Dreamers say the roof would allow natural sunlight into the building while helping prevent rain delays and cancellations. Inside, the fan-focused seating bowl would emphasize strong sightlines, acoustics, premium experiences and a more intimate atmosphere than its overall capacity might suggest.
One of the newly released images shows the view from behind home plate, with multiple seating levels surrounding the field and large gathering spaces incorporated into the ballpark. Other renderings highlight premium seating and areas where fans could socialize without remaining in traditional stadium seats.
More Than a Baseball Stadium
The Dreamers’ proposal extends well beyond the ballpark itself.
The surrounding district is envisioned with hotels, restaurants, boutique shopping, landscaped public spaces and cultural attractions. The latest renderings place particular emphasis on a large community gathering area intended to remain active even when the team is not playing.
The goal is to create a destination capable of hosting concerts, conventions, farmers markets, community celebrations and other events throughout the year. The stadium could also potentially accommodate major baseball events such as postseason games, the MLB All-Star Game and the World Baseball Classic.
Where Would the Orlando Dreamers Stadium Be Located?
The preferred site is a 35.5-acre property in Orlando’s International Drive tourism district, near the intersection of International Drive and State Road 528 and just north of Aquatica Orlando.
The location would place the stadium near the Orange County Convention Center, SeaWorld Orlando, major resorts and two of Central Florida’s busiest expressways. The Dreamers believe the combination of local population growth and Orlando’s enormous visitor market could help support a Major League Baseball franchise.
Is Orlando Getting an MLB Team?
Not yet.
The Orlando Dreamers are an organization working to attract either an MLB expansion franchise or an existing team that could become available for relocation. Major League Baseball has not awarded Orlando a team, and the proposed stadium has not received final funding or construction approval.
The group says it has more than $2 billion in combined private funding available for team acquisition and stadium financing. It is also seeking support from Orange County through Tourist Development Tax revenue as part of its proposed public-private stadium partnership.
A Big New Vision for Orlando Sports
The new renderings do not mean construction is about to begin, but they provide the clearest recent look at what Major League Baseball in Orlando could eventually become.
Rather than simply building a place to watch baseball, the Dreamers are proposing another major attraction for the International Drive area—one intended to combine professional sports, dining, entertainment and community space in a single destination.
There are still major decisions ahead involving Major League Baseball, Orange County and stadium financing. For now, the new images give Central Florida baseball fans something exciting to imagine.
